Yes, there has been a serious disturbance in the force. I have been unquestionably drawn over to the Dark Side.

This post is via my spanking new EVDO enabled Palm Treo 700W just moments after stepping out of my local Verizon Wireless store! I debated between the Treo 700W and the XV6700 but decided to throw caution to the wind and take a walk on the wild side.

The 6700 offered a bigger 320 x 240 screen, larger slide out keyboard and faster processor. The treo offered better one hand operation, seemingly comparable performance, productivity enhancing today screen apps and awesome styling.

Both units have dubious qualities. The Treo is embroiled in controversy centered around the adequacy of it's RAM allotment. However, a recent article on Brighthand.COM put this issue to bed for me. The 6700 uses mini SD memory so my 2 1G SD cards would be useless. The small brick-like form factor of the 6700 is uninspiring - as attested to by the unavailability of a selection of sexy (expensive) leather cases from Vaja, et. al - there are plenty of these cases for the Treo.

In the end vanity and curiosity won over pragmatism. Pictures and additional details to follow ...
