My PDA2K STB!

My iMate PDA2K spontaneously "sh*t the bed" (lab rat speak for the technical equivalent of multiple organ failure)! I used it lightly yesterday (Saturday), set it down for the night outside of the cradle, and awoke this morning to a shiny brick!

After trying a soft-reset and removing/re-inserting the battery, I had a hunch that the battery had completely discahrged for some unknown reason so I placed it into the cradle -- and presto! -- after sitting in the cradle for several minutes the unit awoke -- totally bare of all my data and apps -- as if I had performed a hard reset.

At first, it appeared that the battery was not charging because after 15 minutes in the cradle the charging indicator was still sitting at 0%. However, after several minutes it slowly started accumulating and registering a charge. After 30 minutes in the cradle the indicator was at 24%. An hour later, it is at 83%. I've never objectively observed charge rate previously, but this rate "feels" about normal. So, hopefully this is an indication that the battery is not defective.

After verifying that the unit is running OK, I'll have to reload my apps, music, ebooks, files and resynch outlook. I really hope this is not an indicator of possible future problems with this device, as it has performed fairly reliably for me thus far. I'm encouraged by the battery charge rate as it suggests that the unit might have just just drained down from WiFi activity.
