Giving up on my PPC6601...
Well my fellow bloggers, Im giving up my Sprint PPC6601. I've had just about enough of the dreaded "screech of death". Im not sure how many of you have this phone or one of the variations, but during a call every so often the earpiece would emit a very loud screeching noise. It would not go away until you end the call or reset the phone. All is not lost though. Im giving it up for a PPC6600 (camera version) I became aware that the reason Sprint delayed the launch of the camera version was so that they could work out some of the issues that the 6601 had at launch. And it just so happens that 6600 has a higher firmware revision than the 6601. It also happens that there is no known fix for this "screech of death". Well to make a long story longer, I spoke to enough people in customer service and stated my case. Guess who has a 6600 arriving on Tuesday as a warranty replacement? ;o)
PDA2K Battery Life
Hello. Can someone tell me what kind of battery life to expect from a PDA2K with standard battery?
New T-Mobile VGA PocketPC Phone on the horizon!
T-Mobile Germany recently announced the planned release of the MDA IV, a new clamshell/tablet Pocket PC Phone edition device.
The unit will include the following features:
I am loving my PDA2K, but I must admit that Windows Mobile, plus the relatively large very keyboard, VGA screen and faster processor has got the xman's attention.

Follow-up on the "STB incident"
Well, believe it or not, my PDA2K battery performance seems to have noticeably improved since the "STB incident"!
The only explanation I can think of is that the deep discharge was followed by a very deep re-charge which seems to have resulted in the apparent lenghtening of the device's discharge cycle.
It's too soon to conclude though, as this effect might be temporary; but it does suggest that it might be beneficial to let your battery run down to next to nothing before recharging. I'll post more after some further observation.
My PDA2K STB!
After trying a soft-reset and removing/re-inserting the battery, I had a hunch that the battery had completely discahrged for some unknown reason so I placed it into the cradle -- and presto! -- after sitting in the cradle for several minutes the unit awoke -- totally bare of all my data and apps -- as if I had performed a hard reset.
